Low temperature, choose ammonium bicarbonate for fertilization in greenhouse

Greenhouse crops are fertilized in low temperature seasons such as winter and early spring. The application of ammonium bicarbonate is better than the application of urea.

Fast fertilizer efficiency Ammonium bicarbonate belongs to ammonium nitrogen fertilizer, which can be directly absorbed and utilized by crops after being applied to the soil; while urea belongs to acylammonium nitrogen fertilizer, which needs to be converted into ammonium nitrogen under the action of urease secreted by urea bacteria in the soil for root absorption . Here, the speed of urea conversion mainly depends on the soil temperature at the time; under normal circumstances, all the urea applied to the soil is converted into ammonium nitrogen. It takes 7-10 days when the ground temperature is 10℃, and 4~20℃. 5 days, only 2 to 3 days at 30°C. It can be seen that the application of ammonium bicarbonate to topdressing crops in winter or early spring is better than urea. If urea is applied, it will often affect the growth of crops because of slow fertilizer effects.

High utilization rate Ammonium bicarbonate rarely volatilizes when the temperature is lower than 20℃. After being applied to the soil, ammonium ions can be quickly adsorbed by the soil colloid, and its adsorption capacity is 8 times that of urea. Therefore, it is not easy to lose with water. After urea is applied to the soil, it exists in a molecular state before it is converted into ammonium nitrogen, which is difficult to be adsorbed by soil colloids and is easy to lose.

********* Someone has done an experiment. The effect of applying ammonium bicarbonate to wheat fields in winter is 1 to 1.5 times higher than that of applying it in high temperature seasons.
