Grafting and seedling cultivation is a commonly used method for protecting vegetables in recent years. It can improve the disease resistance of plants and increase the yield. The following points should be noted during the operation.
Choose the right rootstock. There are great differences in drought resistance, cold resistance, and disease resistance of different rootstocks, and the corresponding rootstocks can be selected according to the purpose and method of cultivation.
Choose the appropriate method. Vegetable grafting methods include plugging, splicing, and docking. Plugging and splicing are performed before and after breaking the seedlings and are mainly applied to melon vegetables.
Management after grafting. The grafted bed needs to maintain the relative humidity of the air above 90%, so the seedbed should be poured with bottom water and covered with a small shed. To prevent overheating in the shed, it should be shaved for 3-7 days. When the young leaves of the seedlings are not wilting or new leaves are growing out, the seedbed can be moderately ventilated and cooled, and the light can be gradually increased. After 8 days of grafting, the shelter can be completely removed and the normal management can be performed.
