Agilent Technologies recently launched SureVector, the world's first modular carrier toolkit for molecular cloning and DNA assembly researchers.
Since acquiring Stratagene in 2007, Agilent has been a leading provider of molecular biology tools and one of the few companies that offer a full range of molecular and synthetic biology complete workflow solutions.
Using the efficiency of next-generation DNA assembly technology, SureVector provides a synthetic biology-based approach that uses small DNA fragments to create vectors that enable the created vectors to function in a variety of cell types.
Jacob Thaysen, president of Agilent Diagnostics and Gene Group (DGG), said: "SureVector can help biologists quickly, efficiently and reliably build custom vectors using standard components (small DNA molecules that can be replicated independently in cells), which will change the way people think And the way of molecular cloning."
Laboratories that rely on service providers to create custom vectors often pay high unit costs and must endure long lead times. Another option is to order DNA fragments and assembly enzymes separately, but this will put a lot of effort into the lab's unvalidated DNA/enzyme combination and may require extensive troubleshooting.
On the other hand, Agilent offers a range of widely-validated standard components through SureVector that can be assembled into thousands of combinations that cover most commercially available carriers.

This new product is part of Agilent's line of leading synthetic biology products, including the highest fidelity DNA synthesis platform and advanced detection instruments such as mass spectrometry systems. SureVector is the newest member of a new generation of tools for molecular and synthetic biology following the QuikChange HT and SureGuide CRISPR/Cas systems.
